Creating an Asset Management Organization Identity

Josh Arceneaux | Lead, Reliability

ENMAX, Electric Utility

Enmax, a large electric utility company recently underwent a corporate over-haul to unify their asset management identity. In order for the organization to manage through changing market conditions and a corporate strategy change from growth to optimization, with an aging and varying power generation asset base, the organization adopted an ISO 55 000 asset management compliant philosophy to address significant challenges within the utility business in Alberta Canada.

This presentation will present the challenges to the organization, the roadmap to ISO 55 000 compliance, as well as show where the power supply organization is in the path towards compliance.  It will outline the internal and external reflection of the organization to understand the need for change and how the organization is dealing with moving from “managing our assets” to an asset management mindset, with the end goal being to maximize returns through the entire life cycle of their asset base.
